Ocean China Super Buffet in Charleston

When me and my family last came here it was ok. We had already picked a selection of foods that we like when we came here. I do enjoy the place, but it needs a drastic change soon. It wouldnt hurt to spend some money to upgrade the place a little bit. I love the seletions and i would come here whenever you feel like it. This place i wouldnt come for all the time.

Good food, enjoyable place for family or couples

I'm not sure where the negative reviews come from...this place was great and had a lot of options.

Within 10 mins after we settled in to eat, paramedics show up for food poising or something. That should had been our cue to leave and dont start eating. Anyhow none of the kids or us got sick. But we do have to say the staff is kind of..."friendly" and the quotes are because they will receive you with a smile but if you take your time to enjoy that plate of food you just grabbed. They start swirling around you giving you some funky looks. And eventually as they told my father in law which he was in the table next to us. "If you are done, you have to leave!!!" Basically kicking them out. Which I told him, if we were there not even 30 mins and had just started eating, what was their problem. We ended our meals in our own time and then we went and pay. This last minute attitude we did not need. Definetly not recommending it and never coming back.

Aside from the food being okay, the service was horrible. The server was very rude.She acted like she didnt want to serve me and the party that I was with, and she was trying to charge us for things we didn't order.This establishment won't be getting anymore of my money.

This spot is worth giving a shot. They serve large portions for affordable rates. Consistently well kept and with fantastic atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.

Options were wide, the signs on the buffet said not to waste food, the old man stocking the bar watched everything we touched, loomed over us, both of us had some foods cold, stuffed mushrooms had a weird flavor like overspray of chemicals. Wasnt horrible but wont come back.

Good selection of buffet food options. Best right at lunch hour if you want it fresh. Sushi station is generic and not refreshed often. There are better options for sushi.

Was very disappointed! Food was luck warm. They had a large variety, but nothing worth going back for seconds.

Very good food and price is just right

To be frank, I was afraid to eat some of the more "exotic" food items like their apple pie. On the other hand, the layout is beautiful. I love the giant fountain in the lobby.

Just ok. Big selection. Facility needs a makeover. Bathrooms were awful. Not again.

It was horrible.... the food was cold and we were rushed to leave. The manager came over to our table and before we could explain what was going on... he started raising his vc to us (the customer). That was very unprofessional.

An American chinese food, all you can eat buffet. Very delicious! I went there for lunch with my family, it was busy in the restaurant, the food was fresh. They have a wide variety of foods, I loved their chicken on a stick and macaroni and cheese. They also have American sushi, a salad bar, a good selection of fruit and desserts. The price is very fair, they charge a different amount for children of different ages so you don't pay the same price for a peckish 4 year old as you do a ravenous 8 year old. It's about 10 bucks for an adult.

The place was ok however the food was not good since most of what it had had the texture of it being sitting there for a while, everything was sitting there for too long, the restroom floor were all wet. The restroom paper towel dispenser was not working as well. They had signs that said not to waste.food, but how could you not if it doesn't taste well. I literally had to almost taste everything to see if I had a different experience. My family had the same experience and would not recommend the place to eat. My family and I went on a Sunday around 7:30 and the cost was 11.99 which we were totally expecting way more for the price!!!

We have always had a nice experience here. Family atmosphere.

Prefer dinner than lunch, because we like string beans and ribs.

Was impressed the first time I discovered this place about a year ago, However, it has really gone downhill in quality since then. Perhaps I got here too late since the Hibachi was already closed an hour before the restaurant closed. The food selection was limited and what was available was old. Broccoli tasted like chemicals, chicken was inedible, beef was gross. Floors were nasty and bathrooms were filthy. Don’t see this place being in business much longer unless they make some drastic improvements.Gave it another try tonight and it was much better... Food was fresher.

The cooks dont know how to follow your order there were not a large amount of food found a hair in the chicken the desserts were not as good the fokd were old and spoiled and it was not a great experience i would recommend the 30 min drive to another buffet AND GUESS WHAT SHE SAID HER TIP WAS NOT ENOUGH LIKE ARE U SERIOUS

Great location close to the highway. It is not close to the interstate access. It is located in a large shopping center with various types of stores and businesses located in the Charleston SC area.

Food was hot and most of it was fresh. I Like that u can have them cook your food hibachi style. Friendly staff. Floors and tables could have been cleaner. Great price for amount of options.

Great place for Buffet style Chinese and some American/Mexican food.

This was just a bad experience. The food is cold. They have a bunch of weird things on the buffet. It really wouldn't have been so bad if the food was hot. It wasn't. Go somewhere else, trust me

Food cold on buffet, no sushi to speak of, burnt 3 plates of food on the hibachi grill, I told the Manager and she didn't day a word, literally,, I asked her if she spoke English. We won't ever go back..we also never had our drinks refilled.. WASTED $50...

Went here for lunch and will not go again. Best i can say was the desserts were good. W

Dined at 7pm on a Friday night...waste of my money and a waste of my time. The carpet had numerous large black and sticky spots from not being cleaned and was taped together at the seams. Food was sparingly on the bar and just warm, at best. Worst of all, it lacked flavor. Thought I could get a decent hibachi plate, but boy was I wrong. The rice was crunchy, the meat was overcooked, and once again, food was flavorless. 🤮🤮

It's the king of buffets. Kind staff. Lots of options. Kids enjoy the options from Chinese foods, to American, and then ending with ice cream. Adults will find heathy and filling foods with good flavors and enough options that you can't even try them in one, two, or even three visits (not a challenge). I do and will continue to return, if you haven't tried it then you're missing out.

I just left here... discussed. My son and I didn't even make it through half of our plate and we were running to the bathroom sick. Don't waste your money here.

This was the go to place to grab a semi quick bite to eat last minute with some friends. The food tasted the same as most asian buffets but I already had an idea it may. Non the less, I made some great memories with friends here when I lived in Charleston. The staff didn’t really connect with clients, but I guess that’s better than not acknowledging anyone at all.

For one thing, this place is dirty and in very poor shape. The carpet is disgusting.. many of the booth seats are broken.. the walls are greasy looking. Secondly, the food isn't even mediocre. Much of it is sitting in water and mushy. The beef is so tough I had to spit it in a napkin.. and that's only the beginning. The sushi is a joke..Do yourself a favor and wave as you drive by to a good restaurant.

Weak selection... poor service... very tired looking place. Wish I hadn't wasted my time and money. Everybody in the place seemed miserable. Didn't want to have to give them a bad review but they earned it.By the way... I politely told cashier and a man who was standing next to her about my family's experience... they could care less.

Great bargain! Five large buffet islands with a very wide selection. Soups, vegetables, meats, fruits, ice-cream... Hibachi and sushi available. Booths and tables in three areas. We have gone there for years.

The food is great, they have a variety of dishes to choose from and the staff are friendly. It's a great place to take your family. A plus for me is that there is a big Tuesday Morning store next door and I get to shop afterwards!

Went for lunch right at 11:00 am thinking it would be freshest food and boy was I wrong. I could tell it had been reused from the day before. Fountain drinks were flat with no carbonation. The manager and another guest were yelling at each other the whole time and the manager didn’t seem very professional with his response and courtesy with yelling in front of other customers. Safe to say I won’t be back to spend $14 on a buffet with old terrible food and toxic atmosphere

Good food. Good selection. Just don't go late because the food isn't fresh. But they are really creative with their sushi. And its fresh too!! If you don't go late...

Very dissatisfied with the food and the service! Was an hour before closing and I specifically asked if they still had food and the host replied Oh Yes! We were seated and went to the buffet, which was virtually empty! Hardly a full serving of Anything, much less enough to feed three- or the 6ppl seated after us. $46 and change.. and then the waitress, who brought the wrong drinks and nothing else..chased me down for a better tip!! I thought leaving the change from $47 was More Than Enough! 🤨

The food wasn't bad. The atmosphere and staff are very friendly. This being said I had a horrible aftertaste in my mouth after leaving. Be cautious with the shellfish

Come with an appetite and pace yourself. Food was "Warm" not hot on the buffet lines. Must try the hibachi grill, amazing. Would have given more stars, but...Whats going on with the carpet, its disgusting, clean it or replace it.Waitress more worried about getting her tip rather than giving good service. Sorry its a buffet, your not getting a big tip.......

Great place to get all kinds of food hot and tasty

I need to try this restaurant. It is wonderful and food is wonderful, and it is cheaper. So y'all should try it in midst of a lot of good food soul food and everything else.

Lots of variety, you will always find something fresh and hot.

Good was ok. Waitress was in a restroom stall (door was half open) talking on her phone and yes, wiping herself at the same time. Pretty gross.

I had high hopes for this place . I was told by 2 of my friends down in Charleston to come eat here. The food was ok. Most of the stuff on the buffet was warm (not hot).They did have a some what good selection of food. Service was as good as what you would expect from a buffet.

It could just be me, Im getting over the flu but the food seams very greasy. Did not enjoy this time people were sweet as always.

Ate here with my family on 1/10/19. It was about 7pm on a Thursday. None of the food was hot, everything was warm. The sushi selection was next to nothing and tasted like frozen grocery store sushi. The hibachi was ok, but the chef burned the rice. The restaurant itself could use some repairs. Our waitress was nice, but there was nothing about it that would make us ever come back.

I rarely write reviews but hopefully this will save someone else. Please do not eat here. My dining experience was awful and I got really sick. I could not even finish my food. I ordered from the hibachi grill and my food was burnt and not edible. I tried to complain to the gentlemen behind the register and he explained that he could not communicate with the hibachi griller because he only spoke Spanish. The gentlemen appeared to be the owner or manager and he could care less about my complaint. I attempted to eat from the bar and this where it went all wrong. Please don't eat here. Save your time, money and health.
